![]() Our Services
We are a friendly and welcoming congregation, and offer two worship services on Sunday mornings: a traditional Book of Common Prayer celebration of Holy Communion at 8:30 a.m., and a modern rite with music at 10:30 a.m. We sing a wide variety of hymns, mostly from the latest edition of Common Praise, but also some newer hymns as well as older favourites from different traditions. Members of the congregation play a full part in the service, reading the scriptures, leading the Prayers of the People and assisting at the administration of the sacrament. Scripture readings are common to many Christian Churches (we use the Revised Common Lectionary). Father Michael, our parish priest, usually bases his sermon on the Gospel for the day, and tries to show how it is relevant to our own experiences and situations. His aim is to make us think! We are very proud of our Sunday bulletin, which is crammed with information! In addition to the details of the service, the Bible readings are reproduced in full, with introductory notes, and there are also notes on each of the hymns we sing as well as information about the choir anthem (Adobe PDF). We are a Stewardship parish, and an offering is taken up at each service by the passing of a plate among the congregation. Envelopes are available so that contributors can be guaranteed a receipt for charitable contributions at the end of each calendar year. Sunday School is available for the children (except during July and August) where they study the day's lesson, followed by games, crafts or drama sessions. We encourage everyone to stay for conversation and refreshments after the 10:30 service. In addition to our Sunday services, there are weekday celebrations on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 and Wednesday evenings at 7:30, followed by Bible Study or discussion during Advent and Lent. On certain Holy Days (e.g., Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, All Souls’ Day) there are additional services. We look forward to welcoming you. Our upcoming special services are detailed under Special Events. Parish news can be found in our quarterly newsletter, The Transcript (Adobe PDF). |
